Unsafe Harbor
You promised to love me
and to protect me always
Through thick and thin
for the rest of our days
However you lied to me
and my heart was broken
I harbor no ill will toward you, but
another word will never be spoken

In response to D’verse Poets Monday Quadrille Challenge by Lillian – Harbor
A Quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words (excluding the title)
harboring no ill will is the best healing for the betrayal
Broken promises, betrayal, how can the heart not harbor ill will? We’ve all been there.
Oh…..the lover who betrayed….the safe harbor that proves its true colors and hurts, and scars. This is a sad tale you’ve wrought here. It is the healing that takes the time. . . and somehow getting one’s moorings back . . . to be secure in the floating as an island so to speak.
Thank you so much Lillian. I love your response 🙂
forgive and forget – maybe not so easy but indeed necessary for our own healing – lovely quadrille Christine
Thank you Gina 🙂
you are welcome Christine
