Pound of Flesh
Revenge was apparent
after she had been violated
He had taken what was hers
Her body abused, desecrated
There was an air of desperation
She wanted justice served
Eventually it came and
he got what he deserved
Finally what had been craved
Was now hers to feast
But that plump, pound of flesh
Was not as filling, not in the least
She could not fathom why
Retribution was not hers
Hibernation became routine
The outside world now a blur

Retribution may not always taste sweet.
Powerful.
It never is Punam, yet we always think it will make us feel better. 😔
So true dear. 😐
You got it. There is no punishment that can return you to your former self, just as a sentence for murder cannot bring back a life. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! 🙂
