The Family Stone

The Family Stone

Mother and father
Side by side
Watching the ship
Slowly disappear
Oh how they cried

Young son looking on
Not yet understanding
The pain they endured
Saying goodbye is hard
When you are left standing

The family dog
Oblivious to it all
Sits patiently by
his young master
Waiting for his call

Undoubtedly they will
be here again one day
When son number two
Grows up to be a man
And he too will sail a way

Nicely written Christine, I saw a family as well. But I love that you saw a little dog! Fun!

Thanks Jordan! I think the little one looked like an Ayotalla!

this was beauty in every way, the description of the waiting, the family ties that bind and the fear of what is next

Thank you for sharing this. You captured many truths of life from one generation to the other. Especially enjoyed how children do not yet understand.
