Toxic
We laugh and cry
Smile and frown
Usually together
We slip and slide
Soar and fall
Whatever the weather
Now your thoughts toxic
covering your heart
in a dark shadow
I hold a lantern
looking for some light
or an afterglow
Impressionable images
Clouding your brain
and misguiding
Festering memories
rearing their heads
and dividing
What comes out
is caustic and poisonous
Harming those in your path
Patiently I wait
until it is all spent
While shielding from your wrath

there is someone that holds me very tight and close when i get so toxic and destructive to my own self, we should all have someone like that, i hope i read it right and you are such a person too Christine.
Yes Gina, you read it right. Observing toxicity in another will make you want to contain any that you might harbor. It is very sad to observe and we can see that we are all capable of doing the same ๐
so true Christine, this hit a nerve with me. it is so easy to give in to negativity
Excellent Christine!
Thank you! Iโve been getting g a bit dark lately ๐ Have to start brightening up my poetry! ๐๐๐
Well, you do dark well and I am sure your bright ones will surely be as beautiful. ๐๐
Iโve been a little dark lately donโt you think? ๐ Maybe I should lighten it up!
Not a bad idea! ๐
Sorry, I lost internet connection for a while and wasn’t sure my messages went through.
No worries Christine. ๐
Oh boy, perfect timing. I had to make a choice yesterday and I chose no toxicity! If one cannot reason and spews then onward.๐
Oh good choice Jordy…..๐๐
