Jerk

Jerk

What I ask is the point

To do what will disappoint

Why would you pour oil on a bonfire

When you know what will transpire

You actually enjoy being

The one always disagreeing

An onslaught of peppered criticisms

When no one wants your idealisms

You would bask in your own glory

While delivering a sad sob story

Public enemy number one

Never wanting to be outdone

Your motto is to never snooze

If you do you might lose

Word Prompts

Linda G Hill’s Stream of consciousness Saturday asked us to open a book and ‘point’ and write about where you landed.  I arrived at a poem by Rupi Kaur …

let it go
let it leave
let it happen
nothing
in this world
was promised or
belonged to you anyway

– all you own is yourself

It inspired me to write this poem I called Jerk

Point

Bonfire

Bask

Snooze

Public

Onslaught

      In the moment with people like this it is difficult. But on reflection, the words come easily 😕
