A Mama’s Gift

A Mama’s Gift

Your essence lingers
With the feel of your silk robe
As if you were still there

I would play dress up
Like any child
Pretending I had your flair

Wearing your high heels
Make up and jewelry
I became a miniature you

Exulted by your delight
Of my performance
Giving me credit for my debut

Lavender sachets
remind me of you
Placed in the drawers of the chest

Little touches of sweetness
Teaching me to care
These memories are the best

Letting me run free and discover
Or baking cakes with you
Wiping away my tears of chagrin

Always there to comfort
Being a proud Mama on sports day
Watching me give it my all to win

Still to this day
You comfort and soothe me
Memories of your fragrances left

Like beautiful music
My senses are touched
Forgetting I am bereft

Thank you Jilly. Yes, I seem to still do all those things she taught me. Even the ones I hated! She would always tell he to turn my clothes inside out in the wash and I would always refuse, thinking it was nutty. Now I always do it πŸ™‚
