Dirty Laundry

Dirty Laundry

Today my heart is heavy
Carrying the burden of you
Your pursuit of winning
no matter the cost
Leaving me not knowing what to do

You have sacrificed us
with no thought of consequence
Manipulating the truth
In glory of your own ego
To the point of dominance

The self-indulgent splurge
on your version of the facts
Leaving me shocked
from my senses
Like a blow from an axe

Since the inception of us
I knew the monster was there
A damaged soul
needing comfort
and round the clock care

Living in an alternate reality
Where enemies are everywhere
A dystopian society
Confusing the innocent
With those who don’t care

Pouring dirt on the pristine
love that we had
You have sullied
something beautiful
I’m left wounded and sad

At the point of no return
We are at an impasse
Like dogs chasing their tails
Going forever in circles
This time we will not surpass

This is your poem, I know, but it feels like my story. Thank you for putting it into words so eloquently.❤️

you spin the word prompts so well Christine that they fall in all the right points for maximum effect. tragic story of a slowly dying dream.

Thank you Gina 🙂 That’s part of the challenge I enjoy. It doesn’t always work though. Thank you for your kind words 💕
