Resolution

Resolution

I carry guilt
As a child
As a mother
As a wife
I have carried it
my whole life

Everyone comes first
They always have
I would go without
Let them be happy
Let them be safe
There was never a doubt

But I am tired
I am weary
I am bruised
Yet I let it continue
What’s wrong with me
I just feel used

Today I want things
to be different
It will no longer be a tradition
Someone else
will take care
It’s not beyond cognition

I want no revenge
Only a segway
to another solution
Perhaps everyone
will understand
It’s my New Year resolution
