Wishing and Hoping

Wishing and Hoping

Dare I dream
that one day I will be
playing on the beach
down by the sea
making sandcastles
catching fish
collecting shells
making a wish

Living in snow
more than half a year
heavy clothes
and winter gear
sunshine hidden
for most of the time
frozen world
it seems like a crime

I wish and hope
and want to be
warm and happy
under a palm tree
goodbye cold and snow
Please set me free
so I may live
down by the sea

Thank you Punam. 💕 I was hoping it sounded like the boy was speaking. I hope I achieved that.

there’s a sweetness to the rhyme Christine, love how the duality of weather can be a place to seek refuge

Thanks Gina. I agree with the escaping the weather. Sometimes the heat is oppressive or the rains go on too long. In Florida you have to escape too! 🙂

Ahh, so sweet. What a lovely rhyme.

Quit rubbing it in, lol. Every year, I say to my husband: tell me again why we live here?

I love your poem Christine. I would love to have Spring all year round. But I don’t…lol
Joey Blue says you need to live near him… hehe…I guess you will endure the winter and no palm trees just yet. Brrrr. Thanks for joining the challenge.

Thanks Hélène! I’m in Florida so it’s never really that cold. Hope it warms up for you soon 🙂💕

Bitter cold snap we had for a few days, then rain. No palms trees here. Stay in the shade…enjoy.

I don’t know how you do it. You are made of the strong stuff. My blood has thinned out living here 😌😎

      • January 25, 2019 at 12:05 am

You would freeze here at first but then we dress appropriately (so much so ) therefore on some days due to all my layers I can hardly move🤣

the title of this piece reminds me of the song by Dusty Springfield.

Oh yes I remember that song! It was one of her best. She died too young. 😢
