A Piece of Work
A moment on the tongue
Is a lifetime in the mind
This she must remember
In order to be kind
A provocateur
Looking for distraction
Poking the hornet’s nest
Hoping for a reaction
Internally passionate
And outwardly belligerent
Those who manage to get close
Only experience indifference
Manufactured words
and constructed criticisms
Her weapons of choice
In her distorted idealisms
An emotional jig-saw
trying to piece herself together
If revelation comes
It will change like the weather

“Distorted idealism” ❤️
Oh for sure! 🙂 Thanks for reading Ruth 💕
This is wonderful! Your opening is so true… we should all take it to heart. I loved the line …
An emotional jig-saw
trying to piece herself together
She is quite a character. But I am happy she is finding herself.
🙂 Thanks Grace!!
Better to remain silent.
Yes I think she overpowers everyone 🤭
Ahh, yes, known a few! Always made me wonder who I was going to see! Beautifully penned!

I think she is a narcissist too 😞
We all are a piece of work
Yes, we can all be that way sometimes. Thanks so much for reading 💕
Good observation in the first stanza. Briefly spoken, unkind words can leave a lifetime of memories.
Yes, I think we have all been a recipient of harsh words that never seem to leave us. Thanks for reading Frank 🙂
I notice the inner crisis she faces, how to speak into the situation, how to speak to the provocateur.
Yes Paul, she does, doesn’t she? She is a lonely, troubled soul. Thanks for reading 💕🙂
🙂 my pleasure.
i like the phrase emotional jigsaw, we are all made up of so many interlocking parts like a rubaiyat too sometimes!!
Thanks Gina. I love that phrase too. When we are off balance that is how it feels. 💕
Kudos, expressing a vulnerability well.
