This week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt from Jim Adams, is Mountain/Hill. I knew immediately what I would share. Blueberry Hill by the great Fats Domino. It was written in back in1940 but is best remembered for this rock and roll version in the 1950s. Fats Domino died in 2017 at age 89.
This version reminds me of my brother who was 10 years older than me. He loved this song and I remember how he would play it constantly when I was a kid. Unfortunately he died suddenly in 2001 from a heart attack, but he had already made it known to the family that it was his wish to have it played at his funeral, and it was! So I’m thinking of you today Bob and sharing one of your favorites.
Lyrics - Blueberry Hill
I found my thrill
On Blueberry Hill
On Blueberry Hill
When I found you
The moon stood still
On Blueberry Hill
And lingered until
My dream came true
The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody
But all of those vows you made
Were never to be
Though we're apart
You're part of me still
For you were my thrill
On Blueberry Hill
The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody
But all of those vows you made
Were never to be
Though we're apart
You're part of me still
For you were my thrill
On Blueberry Hill

Excellent share! Reminds me of Richie Cunningham on Happy Days! ๐
Oh yes it does! Iโd forgotten about that
Ahh such a good song! One of the earliest records I ever had, on vinyl 78. I think I still have it around here somewhere. ๐
Yes, we had it too! ๐
Christine, so sorry to hear your brother passed so young. I bet he’s on Blueberry Hill right now. Songs are receptacles for so many memories.
You are so sweet Lisa. Thank you ๐ Yes he probably is!
You are so sweet Lisa. Thank you ๐ Yes he died too soon
I smiled to myself while I was listening to this. I was reminded of when Fats passed away. I was living with my cousin at the time and told her. She had no clue who he was. Claims that she has never heard this song before in her life. I told her we could no longer be related. Everybody knows you find your thrills on Blueberry Hill!
The Number One hot of 1957.
Fats Domino opened the door
for many to follow.
Yes David! He certainly did ๐
I love this song and I am glad that you picked it.
Thanks Jim. Iโm sure it has memories for you too ๐
