Trolling
The fisherman would troll
the waters deep
A habit he formed
He could not sleep
Night after night
patient for the catch
Staring out to sea
Willing the batch
His nets did trawl
But for naught
A snifter of whisky
For sleep he thought

His prompt word is Troll. I chose this definition of the word.
A Quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words, excluding the title.

Trolling for catch is much better than trolling online. Wonderful take, Christine! 😊💞
I agree! I also don’t care for the dolls 😑
I love the play on troll – trawl, and I would have a whiskey too 🙂 the restless person inwardly and outwardly.
Thank you Paul. Sorry for my delay in responding. I just found your comment in the Spam box 😕
A great sounding rhyme.
Thank you!
You’re welcome Christine
Best trolling the waters than dodging the trolls! Good write.
Thanks Beverly 🙂
After a sleepless night trolling the sea, he may not need the sniffer to sleep! Very Good!
Haha! You’re right Dwight 🙂
I like the thought of trolling those dreams if one can get to sleep. I can see how the whiskey wouldn’t help with the catch.
No but he’d get some sleep, poor guy! Thanks for the prompt Frank 🙂
Yes a whiskey to spike his dreams….
Or just get some sleep 😴!
He can troll his whisky-soaked dreams for the big catch…
Lol! Or just think he did 🙂
🙂
