Double Life

Double Life

Soaring as high as a kite
Head in the clouds
Heart racing, feeling giddy
Until the darkness enshrouds

Living dually
in darkness and light
Freedom rationed
Day is sometimes night

Happiness snatched away
In an instant
Scorned for indulgences
Always persistent

Sometimes trapped in limbo
Unsure of where to go
Nerves stretched to the limit
Then kneaded like dough

Moments of ecstasy
Outweighing the agony
Living for the highs
Risking the calumny
