Letting Go

Letting Go

Draining me of energy
this object of nonsense
has followed me
from home to home
Time to release it
and free my conscience

So meaningful
all those years ago
Now it had become
a heavy burden
dragging me down
No longer precious cargo

An agonizing decision
to release it from my universe
Fondly looking back
the recollections treasured
Its use no longer important
Many memories will reimburse

In response to National Poetry Writing Month
NaPoWriMo - Day 12 - April 12th

Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem
about a dull thing that you own, and why (and how) you love it.
Alternatively, what would it mean to you to give away or
destroy a significant object?

Funny what we hold onto. Nicely conveyed.

The funny thing is, it’s never just one thing. I have dragged a box of nonsense around the world for 34 years and I finally let it go s few weeks ago as we moved house πŸ™ƒ

Feels good doesn’t it? My husband and I sold our house and all our belongings, except what we could fit into a motor home. It was like losing weight.

Wow that is brave! Purging is so good for the soul and does feel like losing weight 🀣
