Pandora’s Box
Pandora’s box
there for all to see
Pretty, tied with a bow
and a note for me
If I dared to open
the sky would fall in
all kinds of disaster
A war I could not win
Tempting me with
an expensive gift
was his cruel way
after any rift
Replacing an apology
with gaudy trappings
Presented to silence
disguised in wrapping
Not this time
It will remain sealed
One less weapon
for him to wield
A gift that will not
keep on giving
Return to sender!
Recipient unforgiving

You’ve summed up my father so well, sadly this was his way. How hard is it to speak the words?
Yes my point exactly Paul. We ask for so little 😢 Some are just incapable
I love this! Written with such seething indifference towards the sender.
Yes! She’d had enough of him and his treatment!! Thanks for reading 🙂
That box has been destructive for many. Return To Sender.

Yes, I believe you’re right!!
How well you have described the feeling of someone being wooed with gifts instead of genuine apology.
Oh thank you so much Sadje! 🙂💕
My pleasure 😇
