Gypsy in her Soul
Cool sand beckoned
at day’s end
Walking barefoot
along the shore
Much needed,
for her heart to mend
Breeze in her hair
Free as the birds
Thoughts released
up to the sky
Mind calming
No need for words
She paddled
In the watery pools
as Sandpipers chased
away from the flow
The beach in the fading light
twinkled like precious jewels
Walking off the pain
as darkness fell
The gypsy in her soul
reminded her once more
Time to move on
and these feelings will quell

You know I love all Leonard Cohen songs, poems …. everything! Thank you Ivor! 🙂
I’m glad the song worked for you today…. yes, he remains my biggest influence. And I bought a new book of his in Philadelphia, “The Flame”, Poems, Notebooks, Lyrics, Drawings, by Leonard Cohen, forwarded by his son Adam Cohen, its a great read for his fans !!
I’ll check that out! Thanks so much 🙂
Sometimes, we have to leave certain memories or feelings behind. I really like that you used the idea of a gypsy to express. this.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🙂
