Impetuous

Impetuous

The melodious sound
of instruments
broke the still night air
A soft rhythmic beat
appealing and seducing
daring to share

Like a moth to a flame
it lured and cajoled
with musical ingenuity
Lacking self-control
It was easy to be tempted
Succumbing to promiscuity

Heart racing
and adrenalin flowing
Caution thrown to the wind
The course uncharted
and on this whim
all hopes were pinned

Sometimes we have to throw caution to the wind, move with the music….
    This is lovely, Christine.

You have evoked the magic of music in this poem, Christine – it’s been years since I last got up to dance but your words had me moving my promiscuous feet!

I love the way you set up the music as the seducer… reminds me a lot of those old myths about the dangerous violinist luring the maiden away.

I think most of our decisions are based in the promiscuity of hope. I like those words you chose. Have to ponder them.

We will see where it goes then. I like the cliff hanger of the ending. Thanks for joining in and wishing you a good summer.

I agree that the whole poem sets up a lovely frame for that exquisite Volta- all hopes are pinned. I just love how wonderfully human that is, it takes the sorrow and the judgement out of it. I think that in human beings even unwise or impetuous choices have a basis in hope, and that is a beautiful thing- providing a basis – as your site title proclaims – FOR HEALING. This reminds me in some ways of the last surprise line of Thrash Unreal by Against Me!

Thank you Lona! I found your message in SPAM 😔. Yes! There is always hope and I hope we are never too cynical to believe that. I liked the song you shared as it was reminiscent of what I was writing about. Thank you for sharing that with me. 🙂💕
