Papa Why?

Papa Why?

Papa why?
Why did you marry mama
and not stay true?
Your fighting
scarred me
for life and
distorted my view

'Please tell mama this'
and her reply would be
'Please tell papa that'
I was good for
both of you
Used as a conduit
for your ugly chat

You, my hero
would get the moon
for me
That was your promise
But you forgot that
when you chose
to be free

So in this, my life
that you never knew
I hitched to many a wagon
My choices calculated
They were replicas of you
I’d flow from one to another
and each time I’d slay the dragon

This brought up my unresolved feelings about my absent father as well. Absence is a presence, isn’t it?

How true is that statement. Yes it is and I am plagued with the “What if?” questions. 😢

Sad and unfortunately true. The dark side of life well expressed.

      Thanks Jae-lyn. 🙂💕
Yes, we are products of your parents ignorance, through no fault of theirs. They didn’t know any better at the time 😢

Thanks Ivor. Yes, you are right. Unfortunately the grown ups didn’t know what they didn’t know, if you get my drift. It takes a generation or two to learn about the psychology of it. I don’t blame anyone 😑

Ahhh…my heart sank…kids are usually the victims of the adult’s childish behavior

They didn’t know any better at the time, sadly 😢

This is so heart wrenching! Kids do suffer the most and some are scarred for life.

Yes and the scarring is so subtle. It is not until the child is older and then you realize why they are the way they are. So sad 😢

It is and your words brought that out so well!
