Eve of Destruction

Eve of Destruction

As I listen to the cacophony
of crows squabbling
over tumbled fruit
on the ground
Or as I watch dolphins
arcing in the sea
I am forever in gratitude
that I have lived to see
the magic of nature

As our forests burn
and the oceans
fill with garbage,
so does our respect
for these wondrous gifts
We have used and abused
our planet
to the point
of its destruction

Our cries for help
fall on the deaf ears
of politicians
who govern in denial
These naysayers
disavow the science
Their followers
are blind to the facts
and do nothing

So sad about the state of things due to politics and our indifference to the world affairs.

Thank you 💕 I am because it’s true but the statement is sad because others in the future will not 😢

You say it so well — the idea that we would not to be able to experience the wonders of nature, as they exist/existed, fills me with despair.

Thank you. I feel for our grandchildren 😢

To think that observing the beauty of nature may one day become only a memory brings such sorrow 🙁

The only good thing about that is that many of us won’t be around to witness it. Our grandchildren will be the ones who won’t have the pleasure 😢 It’s heartbreaking

“Their followers/are blind to the facts.” They are just blind and blindly follow their con man leader just like the rats followed the pied piper.

Never underestimate the stupidity of some people. I will never understand why they don’t get it. Is it just that they are so ugly or do they really think he has the answer?

      • July 17, 2019 at 11:14 pm

They are too ignorant to understand.

Thank you. I get quite passionate about climate change 😢

One should, but most of all the people in charge should be woken up.

I think they know. It’s all part of their plot to dumb down America. The more ignorant the people the more power they wield, as in all dictatorships.

But for how long? There will be a time when change will be inevitable.

Pound that drum Christine, and rage on! It will be a bloody battle to get the EVIL ORANGE HERD out of office, but if we don’t wrest control of this country out of the hands of these hateful and fearful asshats, and their moronic followers – this current “winter of humanity” will turn into an ice age, and all things beautiful and decent will die.

Oh my gosh don’t get me started. I’m reading an op-ed in the Times today that is really scary about him being re-elected. Horrible things happen when you don’t pay attention. Look at 2016 🤮. He is pecking away at the administrative state, undermining everyone and before we realize it, we are in Nazi Germany. In some respect we are already there with concentration camps on our southern border. Thanks for commenting Rob. It’s nice to chat with like-minded souls 🙂

Exactly Punam. It saddens me as I am so in love with nature but see the changes, as we all do. Our leaders do not help. We have to change them too!

      • July 17, 2019 at 9:22 am

It is saddening but we must not lose heart and do whatever we can to bring about a positive change.
