Still Hoping

Still Hoping

Through the layers
of your mind
I sometimes see hope
Hidden between the anger
and hurt that you cling to
refusing to let go

But it is weak
starved of nourishment
Ignored, in favor
of the animosity you harbor
Your life blood, you think
Yet it drains your existence

I wait and wish
for its survival
because then I might
be able to stay, forever
However, if you ignore it,
then I too will die
