Voiceless
When my words
are suppressed
and not permitted
to be spoken
I have been silenced
They remain stuck
deep in my throat
until I choke
and sputter
My voice unheard
Who speaks for me?
My words
must be heard
Without them
I am nothing

Any time Christine π
Bold last line, existentially interesting, is it the ability to speak and connect with others that is central to our essence? I would not say the voiceless are nothing, but they can feel so marginalized that they feel like nothing, and this poem is so painfully filled with feeling.
Thanks Lona. You completely ‘get it’ ππ
The world is filled with silenced voices…. alas.
Nice to see you back Bjorn π
Sometimes the tears of silence are hard to swallow and the dam will break and a voice set free. The anguish is felt.
I hope the dam breaks and she finds her voice too ππ Thank you
I felt the struggle and deep frustration in this. Well done.
Thanks so much De Jackson ππ
Enjoyed the perspective of this Christine, powerful, and thanks for sharing your voice. Well written!
Thank you very much Rob. Always appreciated π
Words written can give life to voices silenced! Well written! I think of the song by Bob Dillon, Blowin’ in the Wind! It has spoken to the hearts of so many!
Thank you very much Dwight! π I really appreciate that.
Yep, we MUST learn to speak!
Absolutely!
Hurray! π
So true. And it’s hard for your voice to be heard with a veil covering your mouth…
Thanks Jane π
