Wise Up

Wise Up

 When something isn’t right
it is a shoe that blisters the heel
So why do you put up with that
when you don’t like the way it feels?

If it makes you sad
and frightened to speak
Then it is wrong
and you are being weak

Doing the same thing
over and again
expecting a different result
Defines insanity - Amen!

When did you start to do stupid?
What have you become?
A shadow of you former self
Who are you hiding from?

Wise up girl
There is something amiss
Dump that loser
You are better than this

Mish is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight and
has prompted us with beautiful art by Beverly Dyer
I chose her painting of the Owl as it is a symbol of wisdom.
Sometimes we forget how wise we are, particularly
when we lose sight of ourselves.

Much wisdom in the third stanza! It’s sad when we repeat, repeat without seeing another way to make a change.

Nice line: “When did you start to do stupid?” I keep asking that about myself as well.

This could be a mantra for many women trapped in abusive relationships. Good write.

Thanks so much Beverly. 🙂💕 A good look in the mirror sometimes is all you need to put the focus back on you and what you have allowed yourself to become.

It’s tough talk but if you care for a person, they need to hear it.
