Peace

Peace

I feel myself recoiling
and closing down
Shutting out the dissonance
No fight left inside me
One more spiteful remark
will make no difference

Your comfortable chaos
has slowly eaten away
at my core
Calculated and manipulative
Strategically planned
to wound in your war

Peace will only come
in my final retreat
Conceding to the last
Words have left me
As I withdraw from the conflict
and leave you in my past

To be wounded in someone else’s war is alas way to common thing… especially since they often wage wars on themselves…

In the end, leaving is probably the only option.

Yes I would agree on that 😕

Wow it sounds so sad and dejected until you get to the end. Then it is triumphant and angry, dismissive of the other person and you regain your feet. Kudos. 🙂

Sometimes, leaving is the hardest step to take. But once you do, in essence you are the victor.

I like how you used and described the phrase “comfortable chaos”.

Thanks Frank. Yes some people are very comfortable living like that – not me though!

Very sad Christine. Even sadder if you are writing your truth. But you can’t let someone take you from yourself. Protect that private center — always, and at all costs!

Tired of the conflict, one learns to stay away. Better cut off the toxic people from life.

Yes if only we wouldn’t feel so guilty about doing what’s best for us 😔
