Lose
There you live
in the warm glow
of the self-righteous
High on that hill
looking down on those
you deem impious
You are the shadow
in the corner
of the brightest day
Darkening the mood
Draining energy
With nothing good to say
Someone saw beyond
that outer skin
Looking deep into your soul
Finding some goodness
still alive and breathing
in that black hole
She pumped new life
into your sagging heart
and brought you out to play
Until that day
you betrayed her
and threw it all away
Regret reigns regally
in the sadness left behind
in a lonely state
There is no winner for
a basket woven
with love and hate
