Inside Out
I am on the outside
looking in
and do not like
what I see
You can be quite
a bitch I notice
Are you for real
or are you just me?
What is it with you
and this attitude?
Are you wishing
to self-destruct?
Get out of
your own way
Or do you just
want to obstruct?
Stand in my shoes
for a while
and get to know
how it can feel
You’re a piece
of work
Leaving scars
that may never heal

Bjorn is hosting at D'Verse Poets tonight
and he has prompted us to change our
perspective in writing our poetry. I chose
to get outside of myself and look back at
me from a different perspective.

Wow! Hard to do.
Yes, but sometimes necessary I think ☺️💕 Thanks for reading
😃
Oh the shift from first to second person really worked well…
Yes thank you for a great prompt. It was interesting to step out of the box!
Facing our hard truth…a necessary perspective, Christine!
Thanks Lynn ☺️💕
I do think one needs to step back sometimes and evaluate the situation. The best way to move forward is to confront ones self
Yes! I agree 🙂👍💕
This is really good! That’s what I need to do, get out of my own way. LOL!
We all do sometimes! Lol 🤣
That’s a powerful piece of writing, Christine, and admire the way you were able to get outside of yourself, even be quite hard on yourself Poetry can be so cathartic.
Thanks Kim. I agree, it’s a powerful tool 🙂💕
“Get out of your own way”…I’ve heard that before. Sometimes when we’re in the middle of “it”, though, we don’t see that we’re in our own way…let alone how to get out of the way. Complicated creatures, we are…
Yes absolutely we certainly are! 🥰
🙂
Yes, sometimes we need to see ourselves through the eyes of others. Great writing.
Thanks and yes, for sure!🥰
You’re welcome Christine. 🥰
