Tears – Poem of the Month – February 2020

Tears

Salty, stinging tears
filling eyes
Bursting forth
in a cascade
of aesthetic emotion
Cathartically
flushing
a wounded heart
which lies
in pieces
at your feet

As light enters
the dull, dim
coffin of my mind
and the sobs
of agony subside,
a strange sense
of peace
befalls my being
and I am
again calm
Knowing
It is finished
