Bad Apple

Bad Apple

My instincts
screamed at me
but I chose
not to listen
You,
opinionated
and arrogant
Rubbing me
the wrong way
but charming
and smooth
with an
engaging
charm
I turned a blind eye
Telling myself
the positives
outweighed
the negatives
But a bad apple
poisons the barrel
and we died
a slow and painful
death

You can nibble nibble nibble the delicious apple but eventually you will hit that worm 😉 The apple as metaphor here is so good, Christine.

This is a powerful message. Follow your instincts. Throw away that bad apple before it makes you sick.

i liked Dwight’s reference to a worm inside, so the apple wasn’t bad on it’s own, something foreign made it turn bad. your poem is wonderful Christine, so many facets to it!
