The Messenger

The Messenger

I am Mercury
but I cannot
convey
my feelings
to you
A communicator
talking to
a brick wall
I speak
and you hear
a foreign language
You are deaf
to my words
Oblivious
to my feelings
One more
roll of your eyes
I cannot stand
When did you
stop listening?
When did you
stop remembering?
When did it
become okay
to disrespect me?
When did I become
such an irritant?
I am rendered
speechless
Frightened now
to use my words
fearing they
will be misconstrued
and weaponized
to fight against me

Don’t shoot the Messenger

Let the buyer beware of Mercury, and spare the messenger!

This is so well put, Christine. So often words are misconstrued.

Interesting perspective at the end how the messenger’s words can be weaponized against the messenger.
