I have to admit that Jim Adams and Song Lyric Sunday stumped me this week. He prompted us with Promise, Vow and Oath and nothing came to me. I was drawing a blank and even after searching the Ranker lists for titles of songs, nothing was really resonating with me. Then I came across this oldie from Bryan Ferry called Let’s Stick Together. As today is my wedding anniversary I thought the song and lyrics were a good fit.
I’m not sure what that is living under his nose but I hope you enjoy the song and the video!
Let’s Stick Together is a 1976 album by Bryan Ferry. His third solo release, it was his first following the disbanding of Roxy Music earlier in the year. Unlike Ferry’s two previous solo recordings, Let’s Stick Together was not a dedicated album project, instead being made up of material released as singles, B-sides and an EP. It had a generally favorable critical reception, but only just made the UK Top 20.
Lyrics
Let's Stick Together
And now the marriage vow is very sacred
The man has put us together now
You ought to make it stick together
Come on, come on, let's stick together
You know we made a vow not to leave one another never
But now you never miss your water till your well runs dry
Come on now baby give our love a try
Let's stick together, come on, come on, let's stick together
You know we made a vow not to leave one another never
Well if you're stuck for a while consider our child
How can it be happy without its mom and pa
Let's stick together, come on, come on, let's stick together
You know we made a vow not to leave one another never
Well if you're stuck for a while consider our child
How can it be happy without its mom and pa
Let's stick together, come on, come on, let's stick together
You know we made a vow not to leave one another never

LOL on the “mustache” comment. You know how I love Bryan Ferry, so you know I love this tune. Wasn’t expecting Jerry Hall to step onto the stage!
Yes they were an item before she gravitated towards Mick Jagger! I knew you’d appreciate my choice today Lisa ☺️
So Bryan had her first?? Oh my!
Yes!
Happy Anniversary Christine! I’ve never heard this before, but holy crap I like it! My body is still moving. I love the blues and this hit the spot!
Thanks Lisa ! I’m really happy you liked the song 🙂💕
🥰
Happy anniversary! Great choice for today. I didn’t recognize it at first then bounced right back to the first time I heard it.
Thanks Jilly. I always thought he was so handsome, however that mustache looked pretty creepy in that video!
style of the times – thank goodness that changed
Happy Anniversary to you both! Thanks for the share. 🙂
Thanks so much Felicia 🥰
Happy Anniversary. I remember Canned Heat’s version very well.
Thanks Di! Yes someone else reminded me of that version too.
Happy anniversary Christine and your song works out perfect for the prompt today. I like this song mostly for the drum beat and I think that I should listen to more of Bryan Ferry. Enjoy your special day.
Thank you so much Jim. I found some live videos when he was much older. I liked the music better but he had lost his voice somewhat so I went with the original 🙂
This song is essentially Canned Heat’s “Let’s Work Together” with different lyrics. Or maybe these are the original lyrics and Canned Heat wrote different lyrics. Whatever the case, great song! And happy anniversary!
Hey thanks John! Yes I saw the Canned Heat video on Youtube. Several artists had covered it I noticed. I chose Brian Ferry because I always liked Roxy Music.
A happy wedding anniversary to you dear.
Thanks so much Sadje! 🥰
A pleasure dear!🥰
