Ghost Town – Tanka

Ghost Town

A gritty wind blows
between derelict buildings
Long forgotten homes
of the disenfranchised souls
who lived there singing the blues

Frank Tassone is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight
and has prompted us with a five line Japanese
Poetic form. I have chosen a Tanka.

Haunting, with deep sabi (pathos) and loss permeating throughout. A powerful write!

I felt a chill when I read your tanka, Christine, which reminded me just how lucky I am. A haunting thought, those ‘disenfranchised souls who lived there singing the blues’.
