Dawn
A flock of starlings
shaken like a carpet
against a stormy grey sky
released a cacophony of sounds
breaking the silence of dawn
Whistling wind howled
through leafless trees
as a thick mist hung mysteriously
in suspension above the lake
waiting for instructions
The sun struggled to crack the sky
so it might cast its beams of light
The moodiness of the landscape
cried for relief from the darkness
and the earth craved warmth

Ominous and desolate landscape that definitely could use some brightening.
