Inner Child
I live life now as my inner child She who lived in secret for so long Never allowed to come out and play Words tied to her tongue left unsaid Perceptions wrong every time Assumptions skewed Questions unasked Until finally freed Now her poetry tells the story of who I am now Unafraid and fearless Forever young Christine Bolton - Poetry for Healing © Sarah is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight and has prompted us to come and take a Poetic Selfie. We are to take a look in the mirror and write about ourselves so others might see who we are. Image by Ria Sopala from Pixabay
The longing and want for a feeling and moment that should never pass is beautiful in this poem! <3

Thank you. I’ll check it out 🙂
Beautiful
It’s an old story…write it out (whatever it is) look at it, and you’ll see it wasn’t so bad after all.
🙏
Thank you ☺️
This is beautiful. Being able to set your self free is gift we all look for.
Thanks Hettie ☺️💕
I think that writing is one of the best thing you can do to set yourself free…
I wholeheartedly agree with that. It certainly has helped me over the years.
Smiling I am! dVerse really “unleashes” us, right? This is a strong statement of affirmation. I know it sounds trite….but “you go girl!” seems very appropriate here. Let your voice ring out!
“Unafraid and fearless” – As you should be.
Thank so much Ken ☺️
I am so deeply touched by the emotion in this self-portrait, Christine! ❤️ Beautifully done.
Thank you Sanaa 🥰
It takes a lot of living to set our inner child free, and to not allow others to define us. It is one of the advantages of age!! A good write.
Thank you Beverly. 🥰 I couldn’t agree more. Confidence and freedom come with age and life experience.
Bravo Christine, for a fine poem and for finding your truth.
Beautiful post

My reaction to this poem was the same as the one I had when I read Lisa’s poem, I wanted to reach into it and pull that child out and give her a big hug. Poetry is a life saver.
Indeed a way it has saved me many times over the years. Thank you for the hug ☺️💕
Beautiful: I am so glad you have managed to free your inner child through your poetry!

Beautifully, beautifully written. This is so strong and I want to hug the inner child who once felt that way. I’m so happy you feel liberated and can be who you truly are! Much love going your way, Christine. <3 <3 You're inspiring.
Oh thank you so much dear Lucy! You are so kind 🥰
I hope I speak for others who have had their light extinguished and their hopes diminished by others growing up. ☺️👍
