Rite of Passage – Poem of the Month – February 2021

Rite of Passage

Dusty pink taffeta sky
lays in folds against
a blue-grey background
of twilight
The raft of northern ducks
silhouetted and bobbing
on a pewter lake mirroring
the last of the day’s offering
A rising moon chases the sun
from view as darkness descends
Sounds fall silent when the day 
gives way to night and 
and the handover is complete

    Oh the sunset is so beautiful… though I also find it a bit sad… like a bittersweet parting.

      Thank you. I was actually looking at my sky that night when the words came but didn’t get the best photo. I was fortunate to find one that was close ☺️
