The Music in Me
I hear an old song
as if for the first time
Words beautiful
Resonating deeply
Taking up residence
in my head
Playing over and over
taking me to places
I have never gone
The music hypnotic
and lyrics
touching my soul
Inspiring my own
poetry in motion
Compelled to write
of the visions that dance
in my head
Round and round
in circles spinning
Spherical objects
floating in air
Lifting me
Taking me
away

Merril is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight
and has prompted us with 'Connections'
'For this prompt, I want you to think about
connecting or connections—in any sense.
It could be connecting ideas, connecting
historical moments, or your own connections
with people, places, nature, or art '
I recently participated in a music prompt of
'Circles' from another blog and chose the song
Windmills of your Mind . It is from the movie
remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. For some
reason I could not get it out of my head, so
I guess I connected with it. I'm sharing it below.

I’m sure that all of us have a connection with music. You’ve captured that feeling of connection and its ability to inspire.
A beautiful poem, that is music within itself. Lovely words, Christine.
Oh thank you so much ☺️ I really appreciate it.
Lovely, Christine! 💕😊
Aww thank you Punam 🥰
My pleasure, dear. ❤️
Love this! 🙂 Music has the most indescribable effect on us! It takes us to places we have never been, makes us feel emotions that are otherwise foreign and at times remind us that there is more to life than what meets the eye 💝💝
Yes it does Sanaa. That song took hold of me as if there was a message there that I should be paying attention to. ☺️
Music has always been my go-to for healing ….. always. I love your poem.
Dear Helen, thank you so much. I too find it very healing. It’s poetry with music ☺️
This made me think of the Carole King song, ‘Music’ – you can’t beat having a song in your heart 😊❤️
Yes it’s true isn’t it Ingrid? Thanks for reading ☺️
The vibe is so surreal. Loved it.
Thank you so much ☺️
Music….and so many songs through the years have been points of connection, transporting us to other times and places, other people in our lives.
Isn’t that true Beverly. Anything that touches our senses seems to take us on journey ☺️💕
I think most people have found connection in music, and it’s always interesting when one suddenly feels an old song in a new way.
Thanks Merril ☺️
I have connected to a song too! What an awesome coincidence or “connection” hehe . You rocked the prompt Christine!
Thank you! I have to go see yours now ☺️
Music is the ink in my quill
Music floats on every word I spill…..

I love your poem Christine
Thank you dear Sadje ☺️💕
Always a pleasure
Symphony music can move me to tears. It is amazing how music, poetry and art are so tethered to our emotional life.
Yes Debi that is so true. I too have had tears in my eyes at a symphony. Music touches the senses ☺️
