Embracing Change – A Quadrille

Embracing Change

Unlike in our youth
change comes quickly now
Ability to choose
overridden by health
and age
Geography playing its part
as family concerns escalate
Learning to embrace
whatever comes
difficult but necessary
What goes around,
comes around,
as moving forward
is the only option

Merril is hosting Monday Quadrille at D'Verse Poets
and she has prompted us with the word "Embrace".
This is how I chose to use it.

A Quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words excluding
the title.

Change is best when we’re able to move on toward better times. Knowing change exists is where strength lives. I hear you!

Yes Susan. The only thing that is inevitable is change. Thanks for stopping by ☺️

Yes, our feelings are less accommodated with age, we simply did it back then, but now we need to consider. Embracing the past, the present and the future are different embraces, the hardest being the unknown which comes as change. At least that’s how it spoke to me. Wonderful.

Thank you Paul. I find that as we get older those decisions are sometimes out of our hands. Facing the fact that there are some things that we might never do again or places we will never get to see can be hard to accept. Of course COVID hasn’t helped at all.
      Hope you are well. ☺️

It is never easy to embrace change, but we are often forced to, as in this age of pandemic. In the future, people will look back on it and wonder what the fuss was about.

Oh dear, that sounds like we are going to get used to living in a pandemic 😷 Sadly that might be true Kim.

Yes, very much “the only option” – there’s no question of that, Christine.

I loved your poem. Thank you.

    Yours,
    David
