One Liner Wednesday – Selfish?

Good morning! As we continue to exist in our Covid quarantined life, have you noticed how we are fundamentally changing? Before Covid we wouldn’t think twice about helping another pick up something that was dropped or fall into casual conversation while waiting in line. Now it’s like ‘I can’t help you, you might be contagious” or “I’m sorry, you’re beyond my 6’ social distance and you’re not wearing a mask” Are we becoming more selfish? Will we go back to being ourselves once we have overcome this virus? I sure hope so.

LOL. It upsets me when people see mask wearing as a political issue and as a means to control their freedoms.

I am hating how fear is hardening our hearts.. I feel people pulling more and more away.. its really is sad.. luckily here I have connected with a several people lately but all of this fear of death is going to permanently change a lot of things..

Yes you’re right. So many people separated from loved ones and feeling unloved or ignored is not good for the mind let alone the heart. It is so sad. Please take care of yourself and stay safe ☺️💕

I hope so too 🙂 I have noticed some of these small changes and it makes me sad. I still smile at people even though they can’t see my smile they can tell in my eyes and voice. I do miss making those casual connections with strangers. Oh, and I love that quote! Lol

Thank you! Yes. I miss the same things as you. I hope we can begin trusting again one day. ☺️

The thing that upsets me now, which never bothered me before is when someone sneezes. Before Covid, I would have said “God bless you”, and now under my breath I mumble, “You dirty germ spreading bastard.”

Lol Jim 🤣 I empathize if they sneeze in their mask because that is a really weird feeling when it happens to you. Otherwise …. my sentiments exactly!

Not selfish exactly but cautious maybe or even considerate? All those memes of I wear a mask for you. I buy into that stuff.

Yes, some of those are so wonderful. You have to look at it that way. Helping yourself and others by wearing a mask. Last week we had a pressure washer contractor come to our house to give us a quote. He arrived without wearing a mask. Unusual around here as most businesses understand it as they want customers. I left him on the doorstep and went to get him one. When I returned and gave it to him, he went bat shit crazy on me. Literally yelling at me that it was all bullshit and there was no virus. He was so irrational I said “OK then. You will not be getting my business” and he was still yelling at me when he got in his truck. I checked his website and Google reviews after this outburst. They were either all 5 stars with lots of two-way comments and replies exalting patriotism. Or they were 1 star because of his attitude and you should have seen his responses. OMG … he actually wrote that these people were satan worshippers and lefty liberals. He told people to go F themselves on Google 😧. It’s got pretty scary out there.

That’s awful. I can’t even imagine. Or maybe sadly I can. Good for you for nothing doing business with him. It’s just not safe.

I think we are staying away from others for their safety too.
    Love the quote 😻😂

Yes, so true. I just wish they would reciprocate. ☺️

Yeah, if only everyone thought that way.

I would call it self-preservation rather than selfish, especially when others don’t want to follow the guidelines. We will go back to being ourselves at some point. As soon as I can start hugging people safely, I’m there!

Yes me too. It saddens me when I walk through a grocery store and I see someone not wearing a mask. I start to glare at them and very theatrically make a wide berth around them. It’s not me. it’s what I have become and hope I can get bak to normal soon!! 🤣

      • February 17, 2021 at 10:37 am

I have turned to curbside pick-up and online ordering for all of my groceries to avoid the maskless and whatever their breathing left in the store. My hibernation and cabin fever has become worse through the winter, but spring and being outdoors will change that to some degree.

I completely understand. You can’t be too careful, especially if you are compromised. My husband orders most of our household supplies on Amazon but we still get groceries in the store. It’s the only place we go other than doctors appointments! .Wishing you an early Spring ☺️💕
