Stolen Love – A Puente

Stolen Love

Closeness of two bodies
Huddled in chilly night air
Promises whispered
in white smoke breath
Impending separation
Daunting, destroying

~ Togetherness uncertain ~

Stolen love has a price to pay
Lying to one, lying to all
Saying what has been said
to another is second-hand love
Impure and sullied
Unhappiness, loneliness

A most gorgeous, gorgeous Puente, Christine! I agree, trust is the foundation of every relationship… which can easily be affected by lies. 💝💝

The last stanza with all this deceit revealed made me think of how often this happen with people hurting each other.

There’s a whole story here in these few words. It’s like a song.
    I really like “Promises whispered
in white smoke breath” It’s so evocative. Thank you!

A great puente Christine. This line says it all…
    Saying what has been said
    to another is second-hand love

Such deep sadness washes over me reading this. White smoke carries such weight. Not just because everything goes up in smoke, but because it’s like a cry for help, before everything unravels.
