Please … Just For One Day

Butterfly fluttering
Impossible to hear
the delicate beauty
of the moment

But senses are touched
by the gentleness
of the vision

The imagination captured
and carried away
on those wings

Scattered thoughts
up in the air
bouncing from one flower
to another

Stopping but for a moment
before moving on
How freeing to not linger!

No time given to dwell
on tasks that bind us to reality
Released from duties
and obligations
weighing heavily

Oh please,
just for one day,
let me be a butterfly

    The quest for freedom and rhythmic lifestyle embodies the movement of butterfly as a subject of poetry. Great poem, Christine.

    Butterflies and dragonflies are two of my favorite insects. Dragonflies are definitely the noisier of the two.

    Beautiful, Christine! Maybe butterflies only get one day, but what a day it is!

    Oh my heart this is absolutely beautiful, Christine! I am especially moved by; “No time given to dwell on tasks that bind us to reality/Released from duties and obligations
    weighing heavily,”… yes.. let us be butterflies! 💝💝

    Nicely composed. Makes me think of the line “…and butterflies are free to fly..” from Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”

    Oh please,
    just for one day,
    let me be a butterfly

    Very apt and a great close Christine! One immediately hears laments of those dragged down to inactivity, the lockdown impacting everyone. Yes, when will it be back to normal?

    I could feel the journey of the butterfly bouncing from one flower to another! Writing this is multiple short stanzas really added to that feel of light-hearted fluttering. Beautiful! 🌺🦋🌺

    This is a liberating idea! Flitting from flower to flower without any other thought.

      Thanks Sadje. Seeing as butterflies only live such short lives they really son’t have too much to worry about! We have a long lifetime of stuff to carry around and it can get heavy 😦🤣🤣🌺❤️
