Darkness
The shadow falls across your face
and I lose you once more to the darkness
Your time in the sunlight limited
by your own demons
robbing you of happiness
Once more allowing the chaos
to rule our world, destroying harmony
I watch with sadness as you are
consumed with anger and demand
retribution for wrongs only you perceive
I step back in horror as I witness
the madness consuming you
and I pray silently for the light

Truth and pain well written Christine! 👍🏼
Thanks so much Rob 🙂
Christine, those first two lines describe what every abused, exploited, and/or co-dependent person recognizes and dreads. Powerful poem.
Thank you Lisa. We all have demons I’m sure but to live with another’s is sometimes paralyzing. I feel for so many.
You’re welcome.
I know how hard its to not make these demons one’s own, until distance becomes the only answer.
Yes, that is so true Ken.
This is powerful and resonant, Christine: how awful it is to watch someone be consumed by inner demons, particularly if it’s a loved one.
Thank you Ingrid. Yes, you have to feel for them but you can’t it on or you’ll drown.
Exactly!
Horrible to watch that transformation & remain unable to reverse it.
Awesome work, CB.
Thanks Ron. It can be polarizing for anyone experiencing it ☺️💕

One can well be affected with anger following discovery of unfairness. Great lines Christine!
