One Liner Wednesday – I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar!

Being a woman I cannot tell you how offended I am that men in government think they have a right to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body.  Here in the US the Republican Party, in a mounting number of states under their control, is changing the law with regard to what women may do with regard to their reproductive rights.  In some instances, taking back their rights altogether.  It is really quite alarming.

Then yesterday a document was leaked from the Supreme Court of the United States showing that the conservative judges, who are in the majority, are considering overturning a federal law from 1973 called Roe v Wade. Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113, was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. If this happens then there’s o saying what might follow.

What century are we living in? Hmmm, I feel women’s marches coming on. I will gladly join one in protest.

I’m going to stop right there as this in my fun One Liner Wednesday post and I need a good laugh today.

It was nice to hear that song again. The locomotive meme gave me a good laugh.

Yeah !! There should be a protest against this to clear the view point of not seeing women as only a body material not a soul. Great words💗

Umm…white men were the proponents allowing for the Roe V Wade decision in the first place. Guess men can decide only when you like the decision.
Incidentally, I’m a woman too and think decisions of such magnitude belong to be voted on not decided, either way, by only a handful of people.
I hope you don’t believe all women (or men) think alike. Seems everyone should get a voice. There are legitimate concerns about this issue on many angles.
Spoiler alert: abortion will not be abolished… the Supreme Court does not have the power to create laws (I don’t make the rules but those are the actual rules.) … and the world will not end if the decision-making is rightfully (Constitutionally) returned to the States.

Well said Susan and I agree. No of course I don’t believe that all men and women think this way. I am stunned at the direction this has taken particularly at the state level. We have become such a divided nation it has scary. Yes we can vote these people out but they are making it near impossible for certain people (minorities) to even vote. It us all about power..
      Thank you for your

I appreciate your response. We aren’t actually divided though. We’re a federal republic for a reason. Such a large country couldn’t possibly represent all people under one umbrella. That’s why we have the States. Each area can adjust according to the more local consensus allowing for ALL voices and sensibilities to co-exist. When the powerful decide for everyone then there’s trouble. One-size-fits-all never does.
With all due respect, there’s actually extremely little trouble for everyone to vote … even dead people do. 😉

Let’s hope the Republicans don’t take back Congress in November.

Well the Dems got the house back last time partly because of women voting and the Me Too movement. I hope women can do it again this time around. That way the laws might get changed for good

Yet another reason among many to fear the destiny of your country. We used to share so many ideals. Now you’re a little too close for comfort. What happened to THE PEOPLE….justice, fair play, equality, Is this what your forefathers would want? 😔

Exactly Jen. It’s blowing my mind. I’m actually English and when I first moved here they were talking about this same subject and I was so shocked. My first thought was that I had landed in a time warp. Quite bizarre. Nothing much has changed 😦

Christine, I’m Canadian. I can’t speak for all Canadians but I’m getting increasingly uneasy. I rarely read any more political posts from Americans (USA). It’s all talk, it seems. I read a lot of angles, suggestions but….I don’t know. Good Luck! 😐

It’s ridiculous how backward we are in so many areas, especially healthcare 😞

Your meme has given me a much needed laugh this morning. Then my snark kicks in and I think well, I guess they would have banned us from trains then.

The USA is the land of the not-so-free for uterus bearing people. 😐
