One Liner Wednesday – Do You Self Check Out?

More and more grocery stores have introduced self check out lines. It doesn’t bother me too much, unless of course I have fruit and vegetables and then I think it becomes very complicated and slows down the process. If I can just swipe a barcode I’m perfectly happy, however I realize I am now spending more time doing the work than standing in line reading the trashy covers of magazines!

How about you? Are you for it or against it?

That’s true isn’t it. As i said in answer to another comment, we are paying much higher prices and doing all the work. The stores are reaping all the profits and saving on wages.

I’m okay with both ways, but I do prefer to go through the checkout line. Especially since I’ve wound up as friends with the people there at the grocery store I regularly visit–so I’m able to wish them well.

Yes, that I can understand. Local stores are the heartbeat of our communities. ☺️

So true. It’s nice to have that kind of connection with them. Like meeting friends every time you head into town to run errands.

I love it it’s so much quicker, over here we sanners and we scan and pack our shop as we go around the shop so making everything quicker and less effort. When we are finished a machine simply reads the scanner, you pay, your shopping is already packed then you leave. 💜

Oh I want that! I miss England 🫤 For the worlds richest country, America is so behind the times!

It’s a really excellent system, you pick, scan, pack, scan your scanner pay and leave . So easy when you think you load the trolley, put shopping on the conveyor belt, pay, pack put bags back in the trolley then load it into your car! … eeeeeek 💜

So much more efficient than scanning them on the conveyor belt. But overall it’s a lot more work on us and we are paying higher prices too. Can’t win all the time I suppose 🤣😧🫤💕

I guess you can’t really ever win, they give with one hand and take with the other!

I prefer it because I hate the way they bag stuff with all the heavy things crammed in one bag so it’s hard to lift!

I used to do self checkout in Seattle but they had an easy system for fresh produce. 😜

Yes! It’s fun at first and then you realize how much time you are spending doing it 💁‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Great post today. I wish I drank alcohol, somedays. It has been a hard year, healthwise, for me, which is why I have not blogged recently. One unexpected trip to the hospital in May and six days of horror. Now, I am battling an allergic reaction to bug bites from our Fourth hike of one of the battlefields here, with quarter-zied blisters that will not seem to go away, and I am nearly Superwoman on the steroids. On August 5, back surgery, so I can fully function again. But, the good news is that I am overall healthy and all of this shall pass, too. I needed a laugh, Christine, as well as your wonderful daily haikus. Thanks for your poetry ministry for healing the mind, heart, and soul.

I know the feeling, it was like that when the covid 19 lockdown was no longer around and they told us to even bring our own recycling bags or else no shopping

Oh gosh yes! I think its OK but we are putting people out of a job and food prices keep rising so we are doing all the work and paying more for what we are buying. 😧 Whats wrong with this picture?! LOL

      • July 13, 2022 at 9:41 am

I dont know, even Malaysia… the country I am from… started to raise prices for everything starting 1st July! Even.. if they said salary is also started to raise.. Its too little.

I think everyone around the world is experiencing the same thing. It’s very hard for so many 🥲

I know the feeling. May God bless us all
