Hard Work
It stings, cuts, snipes and slashes
Pounds the brain
Twisting stomachs
In an intricate macramé of knotted concern
Takes breath from bodies
Blinds eyes
Bruises souls
It expands the heart
And it also breaks it
Love
The most arduous, gut-wrenching
Piece of work
Ever!

The ones we love can bring us the sharpest pain! Love the poem and the cactus photo, Christine!
Thank you Cheryl! Indeed they do ☺️❤️
And now I hear the song “Love Hurts”
Haha, yes!
Oh, Wow! Love in all its glory, eh! 😏
Oh yeah … nothing like if Punam 😳
This is an amazing piece of imagery….”an intricate macramé of knotted concern”
Thanks Lillian ☺️💕
Cant argue there. Love is labor. Nice Christine.
Thanks my friend. Indeed it is 😧🤣
So true, Christine! I have known that ‘intricate macramé of knotted concern’. Love is, indeed, a piece of work.
Thanks Kim. So very hard sometimes ☺️💕
Love this rough-and-tough love. Seems like the sort of one tool fixes all sort of thing I need.
Yes K. We have to be versatile, don’t we? 😳
Hahahahah, nice twist!
Thanks Joyce ☺️
You’re welcome.
Hard hitting as can be, CB; and T R U E…!!!
Thanks Ron! Yes below the belt sometimes too 😧
Yup, love is all that. Excellent take Christine
Thanks Sadje. It is a lot of work sometimes. Not for the faint-hearted ☺️💕
You’re welcome! Very true. 💖
All that and more Christine… 😉 …according to Procol Harum, love is like a beanstalk — isn’t it?
Really Rob? I don’t remember that in their lyrics 🤣
Amazing how love does all that to us! Well done Christine!
Yes Dwight. And we manage to survive it 😳
Ugh, isn’t that the truth! I like your take on the prompt.
Thanks Marie. We certainly go through the mill when it comes to love, don’t we? Ugh is the word 😐
Christine, you are so right. I have been listening to a pastor preach a series on Love is a struggle, and you both are correct. I am healing from back surgery, the most painful thing I have endured. If it wasn’t for the love of my Douglas, I couldn’t make it. Sometimes love ask a lot of us, and I thank God that He gave me a man whose love is an action word. I look forward to your posts every morning when you spread love around the world.
Thank you dear Regina. I do hope you feel better soon. I can’t imagine the excruciating pain you’ve had from back surgery. Thinking of you my friend and wishing you well. ☺️❤️
You got me with your twist, Christine. Cannot argue with it either. Great use of the cactus to set the tone 🙂
Thank you Lisa. The labor of love! Nothing like it ☺️
