The Devil Hides
The District of Columbia
is not Caesar’s Rome
The Hill is not one of the seven
Yet the Senators
are as deadly and evil
as they were BC
Today the devil hides
in the hallowed halls of DC
With daggers cloaked
Preparing to execute
their dastardly deeds
Hell is in our politics
disguised in grey hair
and old man suits
who stand on
of the good, strong women
they wish to control
Stifling their voices
Taking away their rights
To live in silence
Forever to be
a man’s possession

Punam is hosting D'Verse Poetics tonight and has prompted us to write about
good and evil. I remembered an old poem I had written about US politics and
reworked it a little.

The ugly truth comes out. Love this, Christine!
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️
So much power can be wielded just to get more power.
Politicians are the worst!
Yes, they certainly can be. Not all thankfully Kim ☺️
Ugh, politics. When did everything become so corrupt? Did we just not know before?
Sarah I don’t think it was ever this bad, or divisive. In the old days the most outrageous thing was a love affair with a prostitute!
Christine their gall knows no bounds. When will the madness end!
Christine, I love your nod to Julius Caesar and your strongly worded indictment of politicians. They are all cut from the same cloth.
Thank you dear Punam. Seems that way doesn’t it ☺️💕
It does! You are so welcome. 🥰
I worry it might never end Lisa 😦
Excellent poem Christine.
Thanks Sadke 💕☺️
Hell is in our politics – a strong statement. I can’t believe how these politicians make choices that affect our freedom and rights – it’s sad to see how they treat women as a possession.
Have you noticed how it is the men who make these decisions that affect women? Yes, hell is in out politics, at least in the US
This drew me in right away with the nod to Rome and evil, you point out the devil in DC, great work! 👏👏
Thanks Tricia! I’m happy you liked it ☺️
