hmmmm my comment did not publish? You speak truth here….about art and beauty/appreciation in the eye of the beholder. And the “art” can be on a canvas, or a person standing beside you! 🙂
Such stellar use of analogy here, Christine! 😀 I absolutely agree, love is art and asks the same thing of us which we would give to the latter. Thank you so much for writing to the prompt ❤️❤️❤️
Really loved the way you delivered the message in your words and verses!!! Loved the lines, “So you neither see nor hear
anyone other than the magician” (I could hear a substitute word being whispered – Beloved/lover)
And especially loved your ending:
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Others see it as nonsense
But it is what it is
Will you buy it?”
Same goes for love, right? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what of love? You captured that so amazingly in your last line – “Will you buy it?” Ah, love is the commitment to want and keep it forever.
Sort of the way I go through Galleries – I see something and love it and am seduced by it, but in the end the question always comes down to your last line – “will you buy it” – is this what I want to hang over the fireplace forever – just like love – is this the one that you want as your Beloved for life??
Bellissimo, Christine, Bellissimo!! 😊💖🌹
Thank you so much Chuck! Its true isn’t it? We approach love in the same way. It’s the visual attraction/feeling at first and after a while you have to step back and look at the big picture. Is it what you really want? Thanks for ‘getting it’ my friend ☺️💕🌺
A perfect analogy, Christine! I especially like the lines:
‘Obliterating that which is all around
So you neither see nor hear
anyone other than the magician’.
I agree that love and art make the sun brighter.
I love this analogy. Buying it is a commitment, indeed. How many moons can you look at it before it becomes mundane or displeases you? Happy Valentines Day!
Ha! Yes, and a lot of people wear masks until after the “I Do”!! Been there done that! Not fun!
😊💕🌹
Oh dear, poor you Chuck 😳. It is so true isn’t it?
Yes, But I have to be happy because it all led me to my Beloved – only took 50 years! LOL!
😊💕💕🌹
Oh that’s so nice. I’m happy for you Chuck ☺️❤️🌻

Hi Lillian. I got both of your comments. Thank you ☺️💕
Ah yes!!! One’s love for a piece of art work may not be explainable or justifiable to another. So true!
Thanks Lillian. It is true! ☺️
You capture what art feels like so beautifully <3
Thank you my fellow poet ☺️💕

Thanks K. Yes I know. It can make your heart beat faster and make you cynical. It’s the gift that keeps on giving … and taking 😦 LOL
