Perspective

Perspective

Cloistered in silence
far from the noise
pensive thoughts
dance in front of me
I see them with clarity
Obscure concepts
without wings
Once sparking
With energy
Now fizzle and die
Lifeless and empty
Slowly consumed
by a flicker of flames

Skyscape

Skyscape

The sky awash
with hues of cerulean,
turquoise and indigo
Reflecting my
ever changing moods
Bright and expectant
falling silent
with deep thoughts
Followed by stillness
as the blues turn darker
Subtle changes
in colors
Collaborating
Sweeping the expanse
Carrying my musings
to another dimension

Synchronicity

I am safely back from a lovely vacation and have been enjoying catching up on your posts and the lovely notes you left or me. Thank you so much!

Here is something I thought about while walking on the sand.

Synchronicity

As the sun
turns to gold and
shadows grow long,
the sea takes
back footprints
left in the sand

The traces we leave
or a simple touch
are soon forgotten
Fleeting moments
snatched back as if
never planned

Random messages
unspoken reminders
delivered in synchronicity
A sign life
is constantly moving
We easily misunderstand

River

River

You have bathed me
Soothed me
Drank my tears
and carried me away
on your fierce current
You have given me
your frozen surface
so I might skate
in the moonlight
Your magical
existence
changes colors
with the sun
From morning
golden pond
to shimmering
diamonds
as twilight
claims the day
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am deep
like my sometimes
still waters
Beneath my surface
in its dark mystery
live creatures
you never see
and plants that
need no light
from the sun
Replenished
by constant
heavy rains
I sometimes
swell to my limits
and crest
Breaking my banks
and then
I am not loved
Amaya is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight
and she has prompted us as follows:
Tonight, I challenge you to a two-part prompt.
Write a poem using apostrophe, and you can
name your object/recipient, or choose to be more
cryptic than declaring, “O Love…” for instance.
This part is optional, or you can skip the first
part and just share this portion. Write a
response from the perspective of your
object/recipient, which will in essence also
use apostrophe.
Living in the Present
Living in the Present
In the stillness
of the morning
I see her again
The woman in black
Standing on the rocks
in silence
Staring at the sea
motionless
The breeze lifting
her hair and leaving it
to tousle about
her shoulders
Whenever I come
at this time she is there
Never acknowledging
my presence
Absorbed in her thoughts
and quietness
I smile nervously
but she looks through me
As if I were transparent
I speak but she does not hear
It was then I realized
I was looking at myself
The woman in black
was me
My head was always
in the future
instead of being in the present
I was mourning the
loss of something I would
never have
unless I started living
Fountain of Youth
Fountain of Youth
How I long for
the spontaneity of youth
Driven by fervid emotion
That carefree blindness
to all that fears me now
A life void of devotion
No one is there any longer
to catch me if I fall
There is too much to chance
Is the risk worth the loss?
Mine alone to bear
Or do I take a different stance?
Oh, to reverse the aging process
That takes away looks
as well as confidence
Always second guessing
Doubting intelligence and
questioning one’s prominence
Layers
Layers
It is no one’s fault
That I find myself here
By the water’s edge
Where else would I be?
Searching for answers
as is my way
I look up to the sky
and count the stars
framing the memory
in my mind
Remembering the last time
Here with you
I am not the prisoner
living within your mind
Nor your property
but yet you judge me
I came and left
grateful to be free
I picture the angle
of your jaw
that ever so slight
smirk on your face
your eyes, your hair,
your voice
Tiredness comes
eventually
and I am calm
Resting now
between the layers
of my thoughts
Elusive
Elusive
To capture that moment again
grasping at shadows
touching the sky
Elusive
As wind in the willows
Not seen
but knowing its presence
To replicate
impossible
It does confuse
As if a dream
Imagination wild
Doubting the truth
Yet you know
It was felt
Honor and accept
for it will rebel
Live in gratitude
that you were graced
for that precious instant
with an indelible memory
Faceless
Faceless
They called her sister
but a sibling she was not
Her personality hidden
Not permitted to show
what she had and
a label was forbidden
An angel in costume
Nourishing and nurturing all
Giving love to those in need
They built an effigy in her honor
but it was faceless and cold
And sometimes it would bleed
