Internal Conflict

Internal Conflict

Battle weary
and scarred
Yet neither side retreats
Surrender off the table
Warring sides
of lovers
Ugly and vicious
Fighting for life
For dignity
For children
For peace
that never comes
because there is
no winner
in a conflict
of emotions
Lawyers will
ultimately
award the prize
of lost dreams

Battle For Peace

Battle for Peace

With each rant from you

I shrink evermore

I bow to the wished-for silence

That I may spin no more

My heart does surge

in these moments of madness

Please turn another page

So I might forget this sadness

Contrary

Contrary

I say black
You say white
You’re strange, I joke
Vehemently offended
You respond with spite

Always outraged
Forever the victim
The aggressor jumps down my throat
Robbing my mouth of words
As if his was the hand bitten

Walking in a minefield
Paralyzed in space
Not knowing where to tread
Gingerly stepping
Memories to efface

Behavior contrary
No grey area
To meet in the middle
Just you versus me
Provocative hysteria

The battle is fought
A winner has to prevail
Harmony is lost
Never in your wheelhouse
Sanity does fail

Who do you see
When you look at me
An adversary or lover
Someone to bait
Or someone who might agree

What is important to you
Is it the fight to be right
Winning the ultimate prize
Victorious in the onslaught
Risking the opponent’s flight

Fight

Fight

I choose no fight
Portraying only composure
When you are less than happy
I feel trapped in this enclosure

Nothing can lift your darkness
No matter how I endeavor
Angry at the world
Aiming at whomever

Your words delivered
With such fervor
Those that hear them
Display a shiver

Eyes blinded in rage
Not seeing where your words fall
Nothing can stop this onslaught
We are heading for a brawl

My only defense is offence
Fight is necessary to survive
You’ve put me in a corner
There is no time to contrive

I will come out swinging
It is the only way I know
Whose voice is louder
Such pain to bestow

The battle of words continues
There are no winners or losers
It continues for several days
This championship of accusers

A road to nowhere
Why do we insist on going
Taking us down the dark path
The destination unknowing

When will it end
For it most surely should
I am all cried out now
It has done neither of us any good
