Thirst

Musical sound of rain
Against a corrugated roof
A wordless opera
Of drama and fraught
With worry of how to cope
What nature had brought

The planet’s frown
Sucking rain into its cracks
Giving breath to the roots
Of trees shriveling
Into dust on blistered ground
Parched and crippling

The deluge continues
Day after endless day
The energetic monsoon
Providing the needed fuel
Protecting earth’s mortality
In its season of renewal

Fire and Water

Fire and water
We travel through it by far
As much as I douse your flames
You continue to spar

Paralyzed by your words
Cold and cruel, you are an animal
Each one a mind blowing zing
And you claim to be rational

Your criticisms are unfounded
They are unkind and heartless
Where is your filter?
But you proceed regardless

Saying whatever you want
Irrespective of the effect
If I try to distract you
Your voice will inflect

It hurts and you are aware
But it doesn’t stop you
Never apologizing
Your behavior is askew

For the pain you inflict
I don’t know you anymore?
Not recognizing who you’ve become
I feel cut to the core

Our communications escalate
To a level that is dangerous
Your false accusations
Are downright traitorous

You are determined to compete
I have become your arch rival
To you I practice cognitive dissonance
But in reality it is my survival

Union

When we are in the same orbit
I breathe your breath deep in my being
I am connected to your spirituality
Your heart beats inside of me
Our gravity pulls us toward the other
I am able to guide you unseeing

When your strength has become mine
It is enticing and fearless
We converge at each other’s core
My end is your beginning
We meet in the center
Where there is always forgiveness

When thoughts inside your head are mine
My words finish your extempore sentence
Coupled together a force of the mighty
Fighting battles of singularity
Combining collective strengths
Your culture and mine a divine confluence

When we are on the same wavelength
In harmony we move fluidly
Synchronicity takes form
Our unison apparent
Moving together as one
Loving the other sacredly
