Empty Shell

Empty Shell

I am dead
Inside a heart beats
Tears fill tired eyes
Blood runs through veins
A pulse can be felt
Yet I feel nothing
Robbed of joy
Pleasure denied
Happiness stolen
I am an empty shell
A shadow of my former self
Invisible
and I know who killed me

Lillian is hosting Poetics at D'Verse tonight and has prompted us with
a list of movies that have won a Razzie for the worst film. From the list
she provided I chose a 2007 movie called 'I Know Who Killed Me'

Fall from Grace

The sound of your voice
Lingers in my head
Your words carved in stone
Like a gravestone for the dead
Breath caught between
My lungs and throat
Leaving me speechless
With no sound to emote
Encircling me as you fire
your ammunition
Not yet triumphant
Until my dissolution
Vex until prey exhausted
Seeing the fear in my eyes
Continue your blasting
Ever a reason to chastise
Always the possibility
Your feelings would turn
Ultimately rejecting me
Like the proverbial worm
An irritation to your delicate self
My face no longer fits your picture
I’m not stroking your ego
Nor resembling your descriptor
Drowning my livelihood
In the sea of your discontent
Regarded as your property
Finding a way to circumvent

Red Tide

There is danger down below

In the Gulf of Mexico

Southwest Florida’s coast

Today looks like its toast

There’s a commotion

In the ocean

The algae bloom

Is causing doom

Toxins are in the air

And can easily scare

The Red Tide

Cannot be denied

The event is not novel

But it’s certainly awful

Karenia Brevis as it is called

Has left us appalled

Causing humans to cough

A sign to keep off

Dead mammals and fish galore

Line up on our shore

The smell is nauseating

The result devastating

This is nothing new

Just another preview

Of nature doing its thing

Another gift she did bring

Although not manmade

It can still pervade

The planet is crying

Letting us know it’s dying

Although it doesn’t always make the national news, Red Tide, doesn’t happen too often, but is very real to us in SW Florida. The loss of our sea life is so sad to witness.  Beautiful Manatees, Dolphins, Loggerheads and all kinds of fish washed up on the shore is heartbreaking. Tourism is also a large part of our economy and it can have devastating effects on businesses and visitors alike.  As if hurricanes weren’t enough!  If you would like to know more about Red Tide check out these links below:

Disappear

Disappear

Please let the hole open
Under my frozen feet
Swallow me completely
So I will never repeat
The humiliation is too much
For this stupid girl to endure
Take me now
I just want to disappear

Why did I tell him
How I was feeling
He didn’t even know I existed
Until this morning
Allowing fantasies to rule my head
It was so very cavalier
What was I thinking
I just want to disappear

I have adored him from afar
Thoughts of him filled my head
To the point I assumed he knew me
Oh I wish I were dead!
I am now so embarrassed
As I saw his face give a sneer
My life as I know it is over
I just want to disappear
