Different Animals

Different Animals

Anticipating your response
Of what will surely come
I brace for the onslaught
My nerves tightening
As I become more fraught

Vacillating the point
Until we were drained
Back and forth and back again
Wishing it would end
But the winner does not yet reign

Storming off in anger
I see you under the lamppost
Smoking a cigarette
Exhausted from the argument
I prefer solitude feeling a threat

After an abundance of angst
You come back in the house
Our boiling has lowered to a simmer
Your eyes find mine
and hope is now a glimmer

Mosaic

Mosaic

This is where I want to be
With people eager and free
Different looks and colored hair
Seems a place where we can share
A diverse cultural melting pot
We get to see what each other’s got
Learning to respect our neighbors
and appreciating their labors
New colors, sights and sounds
Different foods to be found
Some have suffered like we cannot imagine
Escaping a vile and dictatorial faction
Needing our comfort and kindness
Along with some color blindness
We all bring something to the table
It is not necessary to label
We can learn a lot with an open heart
Our mosaic life is an abstract art

Take a Seat

Recently I have been quite taken with different benches and possible seating areas that I have come across.  I have been photographing them thinking I might like to share them sometime, and today I came across a photo challenge called “Pull up a Seat”  How about that!  These photos are in response to XingfuMama Challenge
