I harvest the remnants
of our life once complete
Limiting the time I spend
Reminiscing
As my heart now deplete
My eyes look around
the spartan room
Your things gone
and furniture removed
A feeling of empty gloom
My eyes drawn to the window
Afternoon sun bathing the glade
In a matinee performance
of fantastic color and light
A silent serenade
Missing you, still loving you
Feeling you here
Where life used to exemplify
our love and intimacy
Now fated to disappear

I am loath to leave
We are so compatible
You might disappear

Negotiate
Now let’s get this straight
I don’t want a debate
My intentions are clear
I am not going to disappear
I just need to be heard
Deep emotions have been stirred
Stop the finger pointing
It has become so annoying
Childish in its approach
You are not beyond reproach
It’s time to discuss
The future of us
Where do we go from here
More fighting is what I fear
The situation has started to frustrate
It is now time to negotiate
What is your currency going to be
Would you rather be right than happy
Wishing we both had a switch
That we could flip when there’s a glitch
Emotions difficult to navigate
Let’s just try to mitigate
Our differences are surmountable
As long as we are both accountable

Silence
I’ve been here before
I know the drill
From this moment on
It goes downhill
The irritation begins
Nothing I say is right
In fact it is all so wrong
And you’re ready to fight
I try to reason
It is going nowhere
It’s hard to understand
As I watch you flare
I will not give up yet
Because this is so stupid
Although reasoning with you
Is always disputed
Eventually my will is broken
And silence ensues
It’s a familiar tactic
And you will always accuse
Silence really is golden
When no one speaks
The fighting stops
The paranoia peaks
Memories from childhood
Surge to the front
As the child in the middle
I bore the brunt
Parents always fighting
I was the referee
They would refuse to speak
Unless it was through me
It’s all so familiar
I’m almost a pro
I could go the distance
In this debacle of a show
There is no claim to fame
There are only losers here
Break the cycle now
Or just disappear
Christine Bolton
Please let the hole open
Under my frozen feet
Swallow me completely
So I will never repeat
The humiliation is too much
For this stupid girl to endure
Take me now
I just want to disappear
Why did I tell him
How I was feeling
He didn’t even know I existed
Until this morning
Allowing fantasies to rule my head
It was so very cavalier
What was I thinking
I just want to disappear
I have adored him from afar
Thoughts of him filled my head
To the point I assumed he knew me
Oh I wish I were dead!
I am now so embarrassed
As I saw his face give a sneer
My life as I know it is over
I just want to disappear
